Bringing industrial experience to railway!

Latronix develops, manufactures and sells industrial lasers, hand-held laser measurement instruments and sophisticated customized distance and dimension measuring systems. Thanks to a broad expertise within the measuring techniques and imaging preparation, we manage to solve complicated measuring problems efficiently with very high accuracy.

Our Euclides Measuring System based on Triangulation (camera and laser) provides high accuracy measuring at high speed. Latronix cutting edge technologies are...

"Non-contact high accuracy measuring of fast dynamic processes.” and
”Non-contact high accuracy measuring in large measuring areas.”

Overhead Line Measurement of height and stagger

Latronix latest generation of Euclides OWLS, called OWLSIII, provides measurement of height and stagger of Overhead Line with very high accuracy. Standard measuring area is 4800 - 6200 mm (height) and -600 to +600 mm (stagger). Other measuring areas are optional. Measurements can be monitored in real time and be further analyzed in a powerful analysis software.

Measurement of Overhead Line Wear

OWLSIII measures Overhead Line Wear with high measuring frequency. Advanced algorithms calculates Overhead Line wear with high accuracy.

Rail Profile and Rail Gauge

Euclides Rail Profile measuring system automatically identifies rail type and compares measured data with the correct reference profile and calculates rail wear. Besides from measuring and wear data, complete rail profiles are continuously saved for later analysis. Euclides rail profile measuring system is a powerful tool for measuring vehicles and grinders. Rail Gauge can be measured with a full Rail Profile Measurement System as shown in drawing below or with two inner Rail Profile Measuring Units.

Euclides OWLS

Non-contact overhead wire measuring system

Euclides OWLS, Overhead Wire Laser System, measures the overhead wire's position with very high accuracy. The measuring system, which consists of four units, is designed for installation on the vehicle called liftmotorvagn, LMV. The railway track is the measuring system’s zero reference. Two of the measuring units, which are installed underneath the vehicle, are sending continuously measurements of the rail’s edge. The overhead wire measuring units are mounted exactly above the rail measuring units. The rail measuring units correct for the vehicles larch and spring movements. A distance measuring system keeps track on where the vehicle is located in relation to the start position.

Characteristic
  • Non-contact measurement with very high accuracy
  • Robust design for outdoors use, not influenced by rain, snow, temperature variations or vibrations
  • Fast measurements, over 1000 contours/s
  • Reliable system managing to work day after day, year after year without interruption
  • Analyzing software for working with a large quantity of measuring data

Measuring software OWLS

Acquired measuring data is shown in real-time on a laptop. The measuring program OWLS Measure Release 1 is easy to use and can be adjusted according to the customers requirements. All measuring units are controlled via Ethernet network.

Possibilities with the OWLS Measure software:
  • See measuring data in real-time (height and position)
  • Zoom in the graphs
  • Write notes which can be tied to certain measuring points
  • See the measuring unit's status
  • Start/stop the measurements
Analyzing tool

The analyzing tool OWLS Analyze Rel. 5 is very powerful. It is designed to help the user to analyze large quantities of measuring data.

Possibilities with the analyzing tool OWLS Analyze:
OWLS Analyze
  • Visualise measuring data graphically
  • Visualise deviations from the limits graphically
  • Analyse where the turning points are in the measuring
  • Register data to BIS/Bartrad information
  • Export PDF reports (e.g. list of measures, graphical reports etc.
  • Implement vertical and horizontal offset (correction for kilometres)
  • Add or remove turning points
  • Save changed measuring files
  • Zoom in the graphs
  • Enter notes
  • Change threshold values
  • Save changed measuring files
Optical triangulation

Measuring technique

The measuring units use optical triangulation, i.e. a laser line is projected on a surface, in this case the rail track and the overhead wire. The camera, which is mounted in a certain angle and distance, detects the laser line on the surface.
